About this concept
About this concept
Clearview built this concept for the Federation of American Scientists' review of web development and maintenance proposals. It shows the pilot microsite (RFP item C) and the new components (items A, B and D) in FAS's existing design language.
What it is
- An extension, not a redesign. It keeps fas.org's colours, layout habits and type style. FAS's brand faces are commercial, so we've used close free stand-ins (Inter Tight and IBM Plex Mono); production would use FAS's own fonts.
- FAS's own content. Publication titles, dates, types, topics, excerpts and counts come from fas.org, captured in October 2026. Each card links to the publication on fas.org. The introductory text is ours, written from FAS's Metascience page.
- Labelled where it's illustrative. The social feed, the example bio and the example redirects are layouts, not real posts, people or redirects. The dial artwork is generated, not photographed.
Two directions
This is concept A: fas.org extended as it is, as the RFP asks. Concept B, at fas-concept-b-cv26.npage.dev, goes further and organises the pilot around FAS's readers: recommendations first, the evidence on a timeline, tidied topics and a reading-first publication page. Both use the same FAS content, so the design can be compared and not the words.
What it isn't
- Not an FAS website, and not the production platform. The proposal builds everything in FAS's WordPress site, on FAS's existing hosting. This concept runs on Nanopage, a site platform Clearview is involved in building through our CTO, Jasmin Ihtijarevic. Nothing in the proposal depends on it.
- Not a decision. Every choice here is a starting point for discovery with FAS's team.
How we handle it
Unlisted and excluded from search engines, for FAS's evaluation only. We'll take it down whenever FAS asks.
Accessibility
Built and tested to WCAG 2.2 AA with automated checks (axe-core) on every page, with the design notes on and off, at desktop, phone and 320-pixel widths, and with text at 200%. Every text colour meets AA contrast on its background.
